Craig Smith scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Boston College to a 82-64 win over Stony Brook on Tuesday afternoon.
Jared Dudley scored 18 points on 7 for 9 shooting for the Eagles (9-1).
D.J. Munir paced the Seawolves (3-5) with 19 points. Mitchell Beauford had 15 for Stony Brook, which is now 0-13 against Big East teams.
BC, which has gotten off to a good start this season by beating many weaker programs, was tested for a few minutes midway into the second half.
The Eagles, who led by 14 at the half, saw their lead sliced to four with just under 11 minutes to play before putting the game away.
Stony Brook's best charge came midway into the second half when Mike Popoko's free throw closed it to 58-54. But BC scored the next 10 points during a 3-minute span to regain control. Dudley started the spree with a layup and added a 3-pointer.

The Eagles, who hit 57 percent of their shots (17 of 30) in the opening half,
led 42-28 at halftime.
BC trailed for just 17 seconds in the opening 2 1/2 minutes of the game. The Eagles used a quick 8-0 run over a 3:29 stretch to move ahead 18-9 on Smith's turnaround.
After Stony Brook closed it to 20-16, BC scored 12 of the next 16 points to take a 32-20 lead.
It was just the second meeting ever between the schools, with BC winning 79-61 at home last Dec. 15.
