Chris Davis scored 20 points and Eto Onyenegecha scored 14 as Cal State Northridge beat Portland State 79-63 Monday night.

Joseph Frazier added 13 points for the Matadors and Ian Boylan had seven rebounds and six assists.

After leading 37-34 at halftime, Cal State Northridge (3-4) pulled away with a 62.5 percent shooting performance from the field in the second half that included 5-of-8 from behind the 3-point line.

The Matadors shot 56 percent from the field in the game to Portland State's 40.8 percent.

Davis made five of his eight shots from the field.

Will Funn led Portland State (4-6) with 17 points and Blake Walker and Seamus Boxley had 13 apiece.

Portland State out-rebounded Cal State Northridge 31-27.

Shawn Opunui scored 27 points Monday to lead Brigham Young University-Hawaii to a 85-75 victory over San Jose State at the round-robin Surf N' Slam-Hawaii Tournament.

Beau Nobmann added 17 points and seven rebounds for BYU-Hawaii (9-2). Jake Chrisman scored 14 points and six rebounds.

It was the NCAA Division II Seasiders' third victory over a Division I team in as many nights.

Brett Lily scored 17 points for the San Jose State Spartans (5-4). Kareem Guilbeaux had 13 points and Phil Calvert scored 12.

Opunui was named tournament MVP for the Seasiders.
