Junior Gadi Buch scored a career-high 18 points and sophomore Gordon Klaiber chipped in 21 and recorded a career-high six blocked shots as Fairleigh Dickinson beat Buffalo 79-64 Monday night.
The Knights gave coach Tom Green his 325th career win, with the 6-foot-6-inch Buch hitting a trio of 3-pointers in the first half to give the Knights a 35-16 lead at the break.
Turner Battle paced
the Bulls with 16 points.
Klaiber posted all six of his blocks in the first half, helping to hold the
Bulls to 5 of 22, just 22.7 percent shooting.
The Knights (4-4), who shot 52 percent as a team, built their lead to 24 at 48-24 with 15:02 left on the second of two straight 3-pointers by Klaiber.
Buffalo trimmed the deficit to 20 on a pair of free throws by Battle and a jumper from Yassin Idbihi. But Fairleigh Dickinson came right back, amassing its largest lead of the game at 54-29 with 10:26 to go.
Buffalo (5-4) battled back with a 16-2 run over the next 4:38, sparked by nine points from Calvin Cage, cutting the margin to 11 at 56-45. The Knights responded by hitting eight straight free throws. The Bulls made one last rally in the closing minutes, but were never able to pull closer than 11. The Bulls' win streak was stopped at five.
