Lance Allred came off the Weber State bench to score 22 points and help the Wildcats come back from a 19-point deficit to defeat Winthrop 69-67 Monday night.
Jon Hamilton hit five 3-pointers and 20 points for Weber State (6-4) in the Wildcats' first meeting with a team from the Big South Conference.
Torrell Martin
led the Eagles (5-4) with 19 points, including 5-of-10 from the 3-point line.
Marcus Cooke added 12 points and Tyrone Walker had 11 points and seven rebounds.
Winthrop made a 16-2 run in the first half to build a 38-27 lead at the half.
The Winthrop defense held the Wildcats to 24 percent shooting and more than
nine minutes without a field goal in the first half.
In the second half, The Wildcats outscored the Eagles 42-29, thanks to an improved 52 percent shooting percentage, including 6-of-10 from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, the Eagles went from 56 percent shooting in the first half to 38 percent in the second.
Brent Cox, a walk-on reserve guard, came in to score 11 points for the Wildcats and was 3-of-4 for behind the arc.
