Paul Miller and Jamar Howard each scored 15 points to lead five Wichita State players in double figures and the Shockers beat Texas-Arlington 75-61 on Monday night.
Wichita State (8-2) won for the sixth time in its last seven games and snapped Texas-Arlington's four-game winning streak.
Wichita State led 16-4 after five minutes by going 7-of-11 from the field and forcing five turnovers.
Texas-Arlington (4-3) pulled within 12 points five minutes into the second half,
but the Shockers scored nine straight points to take a 53-31 lead with 11:19
left.
Randy Burns, Fridge Holman and Aaron Hogg each had 10 points for the Shockers. Holman had nine assists, seven in the first half.
Steven Thomas had 15 points for the Mavericks, while Keith Howell added 12.
Derrick Obasohan, the Mavericks' top scorer averaging 17.5 points, scored eight points, all in the second half. He missed all seven shots he took in the first half.
