Andre Owens scored a career-high 41 points to help Houston overcome a late double-digit deficit and beat Texas A&M 70-61 in overtime Saturday.

Owens scored a pair of 3-pointers and a driving layup in just over a minute to cut Texas A&M's lead to 49-47 with 5:15 left in the game.

He tied the game at 51 with 2:30 to go with another 3-pointer and made four free-throws in the final minute. His final shot gave the Cougars a 3-point lead with 22 seconds left, but Antoine Wright's 3-pointer with 9.9 seconds to go forced the game into overtime.


The Cougars (5-3) went 8-for-8 from the line in overtime to seal the win.

Jesse King led the way for Texas A&M (5-4) with 19 points. Wright added 15, while Andy Slocum finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds after being held scoreless in the first half.

The double-double was Slocum's fourth of the season.

The Aggies outrebounded Houston 42-39 but made just 4-of-20 from 3-point range.

Akeem Clark scored 33 points, including nine 3-pointers, to lead Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis over East Tennessee State 85-81 Saturday night in the first round of the Rainbow Classic.

Down by nine with three minutes left, ETSU (7-3) scored seven straight points to close to 77-75 with 1:19 remaining. But Clark hit a 3-pointer and made a reverse layup to extend IUPUI's lead.

ETSU had a chance to tie the game with nine seconds remaining, but Tim Smith's 3-pointer rattled in and out of the basket.

Odell Bradley added 27 points for IUPUI (6-3) as the Jaguars made 12-of-26 3-pointers. Jerald Fields and Ben Rhoda scored 18 points each as all five ETSU starters finished in double figures. Smith added 17 while James Anthony and Zakee Wadood scored 12 each.

Clark scored eight points during a 19-4 run midway through the second half as the Jaguars rallied from an eight-point deficit. Brandon Cole's layup with 8:44 left gave IUPUI a 66-65 lead and the Jaguars never trailed after that. ETSU was held scoreless for over four minutes during the run.
