Tim Keller scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half to lead Air Force to a 59-46 victory over Prairie View in the opener of the Office Depot Golden Bear Classic on Saturday night.
The Falcons (5-2) led 31-27 in the second half when they went on a 15-4 run that sealed the win. Keller completed the run with back-to-back 3-pointers that gave Air Force a 46-31 lead with 7:29 to play.
Prairie View (0-8)
was led by Kevin Cooper's 20 points.
Jacob Burtschi had 11 points and six rebounds for the Falcons, and hit a 3-pointer
during the crucial second-half run. Antoine Hood also had 11 points for the
Falcons.
Air Force overcame a 35-21 Prairie View rebounding edge to win its third straight game.
The Falcons used
a long-range attack, hitting 11-of-29 from beyond the 3-point line.
Andrew Wisniewski scored 17 points to lead Centenary to a 72-50 victory over Chicago State on Saturday night.
After a close first half, Centenary started the second half with a 10-2 run and shot 63.6 percent from the field in the final period.
Wisniewski hit
all eight of his free throw attempts and contributed eight assists, five rebounds
and two steals.
Michael Gale went 7-of-12 from the field to score 16 points for Centenary (6-3).
Chad Maclies added 15 points, a career high, and had five rebounds.
The Gents forced 20 turnovers by the Cougars and held them to 40.9 percent shooting from the field.
Chicago State (1-12) was led by Tony Weeden with 14 points and Tony Hansbro with 13.
Centenary led 31-26 at the halftime.
Centenary scored the first eight points of the game in a five-minute span. Chicago State scored the next seven points in the next two minutes.
The Cougars took the lead at 16-14 with eight minutes left in the first half, but the Gents went on an 8-2 run to take the lead for good.
